Who may exercise command authority in the Army?
A commander is, therefore, a commissioned or warrant officer (WO) who, by virtue of grade and assignment, exercises primary command authority over a military organization or a prescribed territorial area that is recognized as a "command" under pertinent official directives. (paragraph 1-6)
