PAM 415-28 defines category codes, facility types, measurement units, facility analysis categories, facility category groups, and related accounting codes. It requires real property assets to receive appropriate five-digit category codes and establishes reporting rules for category codes and facility space.
Applies to: The Army provides this pamphlet to implement a standard real property coding system on all installations to account for Army-owned, Army-leased or otherwise managed, and Army-planned facilities.
A real property CATCD is an Army-developed five-digit number used to classify a specific category of real property assets (RPAs) and identify the functional nature of the RPA. (paragraph 2-1)
Classify every Army RPA with an appropriate CATCD and record this code in the real property database. (paragraph 2-1)
Expanded sevendigit CATCDs are for local use only and data at the seven-digit level will not be passed to other commands. (paragraph 2-1)
All upward reporting of items in the real property inventory will use five-digit CATCDs. (paragraph 2-1)
CATCDs will not be used solely to describe a facility by occupant, size, or location. (paragraph 2-1)
