The publication establishes serial numbers as the primary method for accounting for and identifying tactical vehicles. It requires TEDB and its associated tools to remain available for historical information while units record manufacture dates or dates of acquisition in assigned logistics systems.

The Army will stop issuing and assigning registration numbers. (paragraph 4)
Serial numbers will continue to be the primary method for accounting for and identifying tactical vehicles for property accountability. (paragraph 4)
TEDB and its associated tools will remain online and available for personnel to track historical information in accordance with guidelines for the Army Record Information Management System. (paragraph 4)
Units will no longer request registration numbers or submit DA Form 2408-9. (paragraph 5)
Units will ensure that the manufacture date/date of acquisition is entered into the equipment record within the Standard Army Maintenance System-Enhanced (SAMS-E), Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army), or other assigned Logistics Information System (LIS). (paragraph 5)
