What is Reggie.Bot?

Reggie.Bot is an AI search engine for US Army Regulations, currently running an OpenAI model. Reggie has access to every publicly available regulation from the Army Publishing Directorate and can search all of them in seconds to find the information you need. Answers cite the governing regulation with paragraph and page references, and link to the publication so you can read it in full.

Browsing publications

Every publication has its own page listing its date, proponent, status and

download links, along with the associated forms and directives it references.

Where the publication's text is available, the page also carries a short

summary and a handful of questions answered with the publication's own

wording, quoted, with the paragraph the quote came from.

Installing Reggie.Bot

Reggie.Bot can be installed as an app from your browser - "Add to Home Screen"

on a phone, or the install icon in the address bar on a desktop. Installing it

caches the app so it starts instantly on later visits.

Tips for Better Answers

  • If you know what regulations cover your question, mention them.
  • Use multiple queries, one to find the regulations that answer your question and the next to get the actual answer.
  • Ask for chapter/page numbers in your question to research further.
  • Use regulation lingo and terminology. Regulations are written with precise verbiage; use common regulation words/phrases for a better result.

Information Security

User Data:

Reggie.Bot does not collect any personal information from users beyond standard website access and usage statistics provided by Google Cloud and Google Analytics. Those statistics include an approximate location that Google derives from your IP address; Reggie.Bot does not request or use your device's location, and holds no location permission on any platform.

The Android app contains no analytics. Website access statistics apply to the website only. See the [Privacy Policy](Privacy-Policy) for what each one collects.

Security Measures:

Reggie.Bot employs standard HTTPS encryption throughout. The site itself is hosted by GitHub Pages and the search service runs on Google Cloud Run. Publication data is served from Supabase over a read-only key. All AI requests use the official OpenAI libraries.

Third-Party Services:

Queries made by users are sent to OpenAI for chat generation and file search purposes. They are not sent to Google Analytics. Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyze how users interact with our website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. You can learn more about how Google Analytics collects and processes data by visiting Google's Privacy & Terms page. By using our website, you consent to our use of Google Analytics as described in our Privacy Policy.

User Responsibility:

Users are advised not to include sensitive or confidential details in their queries. Queries should be sanitized to avoid including specifics such as names or locations unless absolutely necessary. Reggie.Bot is designed to provide information based on general queries and is not intended for handling confidential or sensitive data.

Public Regulations Only:

The regulations that Reggie.Bot has access to are all completely public, provided from the Army Publishing Directorate. CAC-restricted regulations are not included in the file search function.

Queries:

Queries are not stored by Reggie.Bot but are subject to the terms and conditions of OpenAI. For more information, please refer to OpenAI's Terms of Service.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Reggie.Bot website and app (hereby referred to as "Application") that was created by Kyle Eichlin and Wesley Eichlin (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

Information Collection and Use

The Application collects the following when you use it:

  • The questions you ask. The text of a question is sent to the Service Provider's server and on to OpenAI, which generates the answer. Questions are not stored by the Service Provider and are not sent to any analytics service. OpenAI's handling of them is governed by OpenAI's Terms of Service.
  • Usage information, on the website and in the app. The screens you open, the publications you view or download, the links you follow out, the service you have selected, and when each of these happens. On the website this is collected through Google Analytics; in the app it is collected through Firebase Analytics, which reports into the same Google Analytics property. The app is identified by a pseudonymous installation identifier that Firebase generates, along with your device model, operating system version and app version. No advertising identifier is collected, and none is used: the Application shows no advertising and personalises nothing.
  • An approximate location. Google Analytics derives an approximate location from your IP address, on the website and in the app alike. It is used to understand where the Application is used from, in aggregate.
  • Crash reports, in the app. If the app fails, a report is sent through Firebase Crashlytics containing the technical details of the failure — where in the code it happened, the type of error, and your device model, operating system version and app version. It is used to find and fix faults.
  • Anything you send through the contact form. The subject, your message, and the contact details you choose to give — that field is optional, and the form works without it.

The Application does not request, read or use your device's location. It holds no location permission on any platform, and the approximate location described above is inferred by Google from the network you connect over rather than measured by your device. It is not used to personalise content, to rank answers, or to provide any location-based feature.

Until September 2026 the Android app collected nothing at all beyond the questions you asked, and this policy said so. That is no longer true, and the section above describes what it collects now. Usage information and crash reports were added so that faults in the app can be found without waiting for someone to report them, and so that it is possible to tell an app nobody uses from one that is failing silently.

What is never sent to any analytics service is the text of your questions. Usage events record that a search happened, and which publications were opened, downloaded or linked to — never what you asked. Nothing you type into the search box is included in any analytics or crash report.

Third Party Access

The Application relies on these services, and only these:

  • OpenAI receives the text of your questions in order to answer them.
  • Google Analytics receives page and screen views, outbound link clicks, the publications viewed or downloaded, and the IP address from which an approximate location is derived. On the website this is the Google Analytics tag; in the app it is Firebase Analytics, reporting into the same property. See Google's Privacy & Terms page.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (app only) receives crash reports: the technical details of a failure, and the device model, operating system version and app version it happened on. See the Firebase Privacy and Security page.
  • Google Cloud Run hosts the service that answers questions, and records standard server logs. See the Google Cloud Privacy Notice.
  • Supabase serves the publication database, over a read-only key.
  • GitHub Pages hosts the website itself.

The Service Provider does not sell your information, and does not share it with anyone other than the services listed above.

The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
  • when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
  • with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.

Opt-Out Rights

On the website, you can stop analytics collection by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser. The Application works normally either way.

In the app there is currently no setting that turns usage collection or crash reporting off; the only way to stop it is to uninstall the app, using the standard uninstall process on your device or through the marketplace you installed it from.

Asking no questions and sending no messages means nothing is transmitted for either.

Data Retention Policy

Questions are not retained by the Service Provider. Contact form submissions are retained in the Service Provider's server logs. Analytics from the website and the app are retained by Google under Google Analytics' own retention settings, and crash reports are retained by Google under Firebase Crashlytics' own retention settings.

If you would like data you have provided through the contact form deleted, contact kyle@ark.place and the Service Provider will respond in a reasonable time.

Children

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. The Service Provider encourages all children to never submit any personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services. The Service Provider encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy by instructing their children never to provide personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application and/or Services, please contact the Service Provider (kyle@ark.place) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions. You must also be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries we may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf).

Sensitive Information

Do not include sensitive or confidential details in a question. Questions are sent to OpenAI to be answered, so they should be sanitized of specifics such as names, units, locations, times and anything else you would not put into a public search engine. The Application searches only publicly released publications of the US Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force and Air Force, and is not intended for handling confidential material.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. All traffic uses HTTPS, and the Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-09-02.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
