There are three core functions for the Space Force: space control, global mission operations, and space access. (paragraph 4)
The 3-level is awarded after completion of IST. (paragraph 4)
Hence, completion of a current Tier 5 (T5) background investigation according to DoDMAN 5200.02_DAFMAN 16-1405, Department of Air Force Personnel Security Program, is mandatory. (paragraph 7)
In accordance with (IAW) Space Force Instruction 36-2903 Space Force occupational badges are optional, not mandatory wear.
The Space Operations Badge (Figure 10.1) distinguishes personnel performing duties in the 5S0X1 specialty.
