UM-OLDS governs the Marine Corps On-Line Diary System, including sign-on procedures, diary transactions, electronic signatures, and retrieval.

UM-OLDS contains procedures for preparing, reviewing, continuing, certifying, decertifying, and printing diaries. It also covers retrieval of transaction, error, and advisory records and the parameter fields required for selected options.
The system will automatically assign the new diary the system default diary number . (paragraph 2)
The diary clerk must ensure that the system default diary number and system default diary date (the current date) are the correct diary number and date for the diary being prepared . (paragraph 2)
Transactions will appear on the TRF for approximately four months . (paragraph 3)
For example, Option 01 requires entry of the RUC, DNR, SSN and TTC, while Option 03 requires only the RUC and DNR . (paragraph 3)
If any field is omitted or erroneously entered, an asterisk will be displayed next to the element in addition to a message advising that the required field must be entered/corrected . (paragraph 3)
