It contains officer and enlisted occupational systems, conversion guidance, and Navy officer and enlisted classification codes. It establishes MOS requirements, prerequisites, duties, and related military skills, and identifies changes to MOSs and occupational fields.

An MOS code has four digits and a descriptive title. (paragraph 2)
The MOS is used to identify skill requirements of billets in T/Os. (paragraph 2)
The OccFld is a grouping of related MOSs. (paragraph 1)
Criteria to be considered in establishment of an MOS include the number of Marines required in the specialty, combat or combat support relationship, rotation base, training requirements, specialty requirements/ prerequisites, promotion opportunity, and career pattern. (paragraph 2)
Complete the Navy Scuba Diver Course (N2003E1) or the Navy Basic Scuba Diver Course (A-433-0123) at the Naval Dive and Salvage Training Center, Panama City, FL. (paragraph 4)
