It covers meteorological information sources, weather effects, meteorological measuring sets, visual observations, and balloon operations. It also sets out procedures for MET data collection, equipment operation, site activities, personnel, logistics, and maintenance.
There are additional sources of meteorological (MET) information when MET data is not available from organic assets. (paragraph 1-6)
When exchanging data between member countries, commanders and operations officers must ensure that the validity criteria explained in chapter 1 are applied. (paragraph 2-1)
The information they gather cannot be used for ballistic solutions to the gunnery problem; however, this information can be used by chemical sections for downwind predictions when fallout messages from organic MET sections are not available. (paragraph 2-2)
Do not use the balloon shroud with a hydrogen-filled balloon. (paragraph 7-45)
