It addresses casualty assistance calls, benefits and entitlements, disposition and shipment of remains, missing persons, and military funeral ceremonies. It requires accurate, verified casualty reports and establishes requirements for notifications, investigations, records, and assistance to families.
The investigation report must be received by MFPC within 10 days of the disappearance. (paragraph 4)
The report must be accurate and contain only verified information. (paragraph 2)
Remains of individuals covered under the program will be shipped at Government expense to a location selected by the PADD. (paragraph 2)
Activities tasked with conducting the ceremony will procure a floral wreath, at a cost not to exceed $125.00, for use in the ceremony for each former Commandant or Sergeant Major. (paragraph 4)
Under no circumstances will mail for deceased Marines be returned to sender or forwarded to the NOK until absolute verification has been received that the NOK has been notified. (paragraph 5)
