MCO 1650.52B governs the nomination, coordination, selection, and recognition of Marine Corps ammunition award recipients.

It establishes six awards for technical and professional excellence within the ground ammunition community. It covers eligibility, nomination submissions, selection, award ceremonies, and recognition of Ammunition Officers and Ammunition Technicians.
All nominees must be Marines currently serving or who have served in an ammunition billet in excess of 180 days throughout the calendar year, holding the MOS 2340 or 2311, and meet the criteria contained within this Order and the annual solicitation MARADMIN. (paragraph 5)
Nominations shall be submitted via endorsement by their chain of command and per guidance contained within this Order and the annual solicitation Marine Administrative (MARADMIN) message. (paragraph 4)
Nomination packages will be submitted directly to PM, Ammunition, via the first O-6 in the chain of command (see paragraph 5.d.(5)). (paragraph 4)
Selection will be based on the “Whole Marine Concept,” in addition to the individual performance of their assigned duties in accordance with reference (a). (paragraph 5)
Each category recipient will receive an impact Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, given on behalf of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and presented at the annual awards ceremony. (paragraph 5)
