It covers library collections, patron registration, technology, reporting, core standards, staffing, training, and operating requirements. It requires libraries to provide specified resources and services, maintain an Integrated Library System, submit annual reports, and meet facility and personnel standards.
Applies to: This Order is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
The General Library program shall be established on all Marine Corps installations to assemble, organize, pre~erve and make easily available unbiased collections of retrospective, current, and authoritative multimedia library materials. (paragraph 3)
Sixty (60) percent of the library collection shall be maintained in support of educational and professional materials with forty (40) percent in support of leisure and family interests. (paragraph 3)
Internet and email services shall be provided to all eligible patrons at no charge. (paragraph 8)
Every patron is required to sign-in for each internet/email/computer session on the official computer use form approved by DC M&RA (MR). (paragraph 8)
An Integrated Library System (ILS) shall be maintained in all General Libraries. (paragraph 8)
