The Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (DUSD) for Military Personnel Policy, under the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel & Readiness) (USD (P&R)), provides overall policy guidance for the defense language, regional expertise, and culture program; and appoints the DOD Senior Language Authority (SLA). (paragraph 1)
The Defense Language Steering Committee (DLSC) is an advisory board to USD (P&R) and is chaired by the DOD SLA. (paragraph 1)
Commander, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) under the oversight of the EA, is assigned administrative responsibility to manage, operate, fund, and provide personnel resource support to DLIFLC. (paragraph 1)
In coordination with the DLSC, authorize the establishment, direct major revision, or disestablishment of foreign language training programs provided by DLIFLC. (paragraph 11–6)
