MCO 1510.121A describes entry-level, sustainment, and continuing education under the Marine Corps Common Skills program. It requires annual training and evaluation for applicable units and Marines, establishes GMS testing standards, and identifies exemptions and waiver authority.
Applies to: This order is applicable to the Marine Corps total force.
Every Marine, regardless of MOS, will be taught the common skills needed to fight and win on today’s battlefield. (paragraph 5)
All units, both in the operating forces and supporting establishment, except those units exempted in subparagraph (e), will conduct MCCS training annually. (paragraph 6)
A minimum score of 80% is required to demonstrate mastery of the GMS test. (paragraph 6)
Marines who fail the test will be provided remedial instruction in those areas found deficient and retested until they demonstrate mastery in the areas of deficiency. (paragraph 6)
Formal Schools are not required to conduct annual MCCS training/testing of their students. (paragraph 6)
