The publication addresses TEMPSEP eligibility, approval, cancellation, Reserve affiliation, separation, return to active duty, sexual assault, and surrogacy. It requires eligible members to submit requests through their unit commander and establishes conditions for separation and Reserve affiliation.
Applies to: All Coast Guard unit commanders, commanding officers, officers-in-charge, deputy/assistant commandants, and chiefs of headquarters staff elements shall comply with the provisions of this Manual.
Eligibility for TEMPSEP does not guarantee approval. (paragraph 2)
Members must submit their request for TEMPSEP through their unit commander in accordance with directions set by Commander (CG PSC). (paragraph 1)
Members may request a TEMPSEP in lieu of discharge by reason of hardship if the hardship is temporary in nature. (paragraph 2)
All TEMPSEP members must affiliate with the Coast Guard Reserve and follow Commander (CG PSC) procedures for affiliating with the Coast Guard Reserve. (paragraph 1)
Members must receive an honorable discharge. (paragraph 2)
