The publication covers military uniforms, appearance and grooming, uniform requirements, optional items, sizing, care, and wear. It incorporates updated female hairstyles, grooming standards, hair accessories, ODU items, optional caps, and NWU Type III wear regulations.
Applies to: This Manual establishes the authority, policies, procedures, and standards governing the uniform, appearance, and grooming of all Coast Guard personnel Active, Reserve, Retired, Auxiliary and other service members assigned to duty with the Coast Guard.
New female hairstyles, grooming standards and hair accessories, have been incorporated into appearance and grooming. (paragraph 5)
Other changes include: expanded wear policy for unit t-shirts and unit sweatshirts with Operational Dress Uniform(ODU), authorization to wear the Winter cap and Boonie cap as optional uniform items, and introduction of optional fitted Ball cap. (paragraph 5)
Regulations regarding the wear of the Navy Working Uniform (NWU Type III) for CG personnel has also been incorporated. (paragraph 5)

The coat will fit comfortably across the bust. There will be no binding around the armholes when arms are moved. (paragraph 1)
