The publication defines risk, risk management, ERM, and risk registers, and describes ERM governance meetings and assessment workshops. It requires risk owners to enter, review, validate, and update risks and establishes annual Coast Guard Risk Profile reporting.

Risk owners must enter risks into the Risk Register whenever risks are identified.
Risk owners must review, validate, update, and/or add new risks to the risk register annually, on a timeline published by the ERMC to coincide with the strategic planning calendar.
The Coast Guard Risk Profile is due annually to DHS.
While an enterprise cannot respond to all risks related to achieving strategic objectives and performance goals, they must identify, measure, and assess risks related to mission delivery.
