All Coast Guard cutters are required to maintain a Cutter Log.
The following Cuter Logs are standardized through the use of the official Coast Guard Forms, including the Log Remarks Sheet, CG4380A, Log - Weather Observation and Operational Summary Sheet, CG-4380B, and the Log - Navigation Data Sheet, CG- 4380C.
Handwritten information is to be carefully recorded using black or blue-black waterproof ink.
No changes may be made to the Cutter Log after it has been signed by the Commanding Officer (CO) or Officer in Charge (OIC) without his or her permission or direction.
Erasures are not permitted in the Cutter Log.
