It addresses eligibility, confidentiality, behavioral and personal concerns, counseling, referrals, crisis phone counseling, and other support services. It requires eligible beneficiaries to receive up to twelve confidential sessions per issue and per year, with no cost to eligible employees and their family members.
Applies to: All Coast Guard unit commanders, commanding officers, officers-in-charge, deputy/assistant commandants, chief of headquarter directorates must comply with the policies contained in this Instruction.
(1) Coast Guard active duty members and their dependent family members. (2) Full-time appropriated and non-appropriated funded civilian employees, including their dependent family members. (3) U.S. Navy Chaplains and U.S. Public Health Service Officers and their dependent family members while serving with the Coast Guard. (4) Any other DoD personnel, military or civilian (non-contractor), and their dependent family members while serving with the Coast Guard.
Beneficiaries are offered up to twelve (12) confidential sessions per issue and per year with a CG SUPRT professional (EAP) counselor or a qualified internal EAP staff (per client’s preference). (paragraph 5)
There is no cost to eligible employees and their family members for using CG SUPRT. (paragraph 5)
Reservists on active duty for thirty (30) days or less and their dependent family members are only eligible for crisis phone counseling with a licensed mental health provider. The crisis phone counseling benefit also applies to Reservists on inactive duty (weekend drill) and their dependent family members.
The requirement that prevents any EAP provider, EAP staff or EAP program official from disclosing client information to any outside party without the express consent of the employee/client, except as permitted by law. (paragraph 9)
