It requires Coast Guard unit commanders and other named officials to comply with its policies, and personnel engaged in boat management to review and understand the revision.
Applies to: This Instruction sets requirements for the management of all Coast Guard boats.
All Coast Guard unit commanders, commanding officers, officers-in-charge, deputy/assistant commandants, and chief of headquarter directorates must comply with the policies contained. (paragraph 2)
Due to the number of changes, modifications, additions, etc. to this revision, personnel engaged in the management of Coast Guard boats must review and understand the contents in this revision. (paragraph 7)
Most boats are assigned five-digit numbers. (paragraph 2)
Written authorization from Commandant (CG-841)/FINCENPOD with concurrence from Commandant (CG-731) is mandated before executing such a loan agreement. (paragraph 1-3)
Units may retain one excess non-standard boat with a disposal condition code of “X” or “S” for use as a training boat (i.e., dewatering practice, re-righting, Noncompliant Vessel Use of Force training, etc.). (paragraph 5)
