It covers eligibility, temporary and permanent entitlement, issuing authority, documentation, qualifying competencies, and qualifying experience. It requires four qualifying competencies, certification, and either a qualifying billet or five years of qualifying experience, depending on entitlement.
Applies to: All Coast Guard unit commanders, commanding officers, officers-in-charge, deputy/assistant commandants, and chiefs of headquarters staff elements will comply with the provisions of this Instruction.
Enlisted members (E-4 and above) and officers of the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserve, and Coast Guard civilian employees who meet the criteria outlined in the Instruction may be awarded the Prevention Operations Ashore Qualification Insignia.
Attained four qualifying competencies as outlined in Appendix A.
The temporary insignia may only be worn while actively serving in a billet of qualifying experience for which the issuing authority approved the insignia.
Upon transfer to a new billet, the insignia must be removed from the uniform.
Completed five years of qualifying experience as outlined in Appendix A.
