It defines tools, equipment, electronic devices, airfields, and aircraft and flight line maintenance facilities. It requires unit programs, permanent markings, inventory controls, immediate reporting of missing items, and completion of AFGSC Form 145.
Applies to: It applies to all units assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing (509 BW), to include US Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, and Civil Air Patrol, with the exception of the 509th Maintenance Group (509 MXG).
To be in compliance with this instruction, units must establish a program or demonstrate that existing programs meet the intent of positive tool and equipment accountability and control. (paragraph 1)
Flight chiefs/section Noncommissioned Officers In Charge (NCOICs) (or equivalent) determine what tools, equipment, and electronic devices will be used on the flightline and will ensure permanent markings are added in accordance with attachment 2. (paragraph 3)
Develop a system of inventory and control for all items brought out to the airfield or maintenance facilities to ensure they are returned to the section IMMEDIATELY upon the completion of the TASK. (paragraph 2)
Lost or missing tool/equipment items within the Airfield/Flightline need to be reported to the work center custodian or supervisor immediately. (paragraph 2)
If missing item(s) are not located within one hour, the supervisor will contact the Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) office at 687-3818 and Maintenance Group (MXG) Quality Assurance office at 687-3915 immediately for instructions on further actions. (paragraph 2)
