USAFAMD6 defines the Academy mission, the Superintendent’s command authorities, and the roles of Headquarters Staff. It requires compliance with the publication and establishes requirements for records, supplements, and waivers.
Applies to: This mission directive does not apply to the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) or the Air National Guard (ANG).
To educate, train and inspire men and women to become officers of character motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation. (paragraph 1)
Reports directly to the Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. (paragraph 2)
Exercises administrative and operational control over assigned personnel, including cadets and cadet candidates. (paragraph 2)
The HQ staff fulfills Major Command (MAJCOM) level roles and responsibilities, writes policies, defines requirements in support of Mission Element (MEs) (to include 10 ABW) priorities, and facilitates oversight on behalf of the Superintendent. (paragraph 3)
Any new function or program will be reviewed through the corporate process and approved by the Superintendent. (paragraph 3)
