USAFAI16-1404 governs local CUI, information, personnel, and industrial security programs for personnel with access to controlled and classified information.

It addresses security assistants, cleared members, contractors, security containers, security incidents, security training, and destruction of classified material and CUI. It requires training, incident response, approved destruction methods, container controls, and recurring self-inspections.
Applies to: This publication applies to all Air Force, Space Force, civilian, and contractor personnel with access to controlled and classified information.
PRs are required every 5 years for both SECRET and TOP SECRET security clearances. (paragraph 3)
All DoD civilians, military and on-site contractors shall receive security training based on the member’s authorization, position sensitivity and scope of duties. (paragraph 9)
Initial orientation must occur within 90 days of employment start date. (paragraph 9)
The basic security incident response procedures are to ensure classified information and/or material found unattended, is immediately secured, and kept under constant surveillance or stored in an approved GSA container. (paragraph 8)
Unit personnel must be trained to ensure a data spill (classified information found on an unclassified system) includes the immediate disconnection of computers from the ethernet, or disconnect from WIFI/VPN, to prevent the further transmission of the classified information to other unclassified systems. (paragraph 8)
