It provides guidance for safe transportation by road, rail or sealift and covers ammunition, explosives, dangerous goods, and hazardous waste. It describes training requirements, personnel duties, exemptions, security, equipment, and procedures for accidents and accidental releases.
Applies to: This instruction implements Air Force Policy (AFPD) 23-1, Materiel Management and applies to all Air Force and tenant units, military and civilian personnel transporting or arranging for the transport of dangerous goods inside or outside Spangdahlem Air Base and associated Geographically Separate Units (GSUs).
The authorities to waive requirements in this publication are identified with a Tier number (‘T-0, T-1, T-2, T-3’) following the compliance statement.
Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate Tier waiver approval authority, or alternately, to the Publication OPR for non-tiered compliance items.
Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-322, Records Management and Information Governance Program, and disposed of in accordance with Air Force Records Information Management System (AFRIMS) Records Disposition Schedule (RDS).
