Applies to: This Instruction applies to Space Launch Delta (SLD 30) personnel supporting ballistic and space launches, aeronautical tests, and other hazardous operations on the Western Range (WR).
Operation Hazard Notices provide real and constructive notice to the domestic and international aviation and maritime communities of the time and location of the hazards created by missile operations. (paragraph 1)
The SLD 30 Safety Office (SLD 30/SE), per SLD 30/CC delegated authority, ensures that all necessary safety precautions are implemented and requirements are met. (paragraph 2)
The 2d Range Operations Squadron (2 ROPS) ensures hazard notifications are disseminated to appropriate agencies prior to activation of an operation. (paragraph 2)
Provide information to comply with the provisions of Title 33, CFR 334.1130, Pacific Ocean, Western Space and Missile Center (WSMC), Vandenberg AFB, California, Danger Zones, and DoD Instruction 4540.01, Use of International Airspace by US Military Aircraft and for Missile and Projectile Firings. (paragraph 3)
All notices should allow sufficient time before the operation window opens to allow clearance of the area at the time of the potential hazard. (paragraph 3)
