The publication addresses honor guard functions, staffing, organization, duty scheduling, uniforms, equipment, weapons, transportation, awards and ceremonies. It requires standards for selection, training, participation, military funeral honors, equipment, vehicles and awards.
Applies to: This instruction applies to all personnel assigned to the honor guard and all agencies supported by or supporting the honor guard. It applies to the 908th Air Wing (AFRC) and the 187th Fighter Wing (ANG) only to the extent of being eligible to receive Honor Guard support.
Personnel selected for honor guard incur a minimum 12-month commitment.
The honor guard will be composed of 4 flights of 10 members each: 1 flight on-duty, 1 off-duty, 1 on primary stand-by and 1 on alternate stand-by.
Each flight will report 3 duty days at the end of each month for refresher training.
Provide the means to take funeral honors requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and respond to all requests not more than 8 hours after the call comes in.
Weapons will be transported in Government vehicles only.
