Applies to: This instruction applies to all 48 FW personnel who use, supervise, or manage training using blank ammunition and dye-marking cartridges.
All personnel who use, supervise, or manage training using blank ammunition and dye-marking cartridges are responsible for complying with this instruction and must be trained and task certified by the Combat Arms NCOIC in Chief Range Officer (CRO) and/or Range Safety Officer (RSO) duties as appropriate for the role they will perform as required by AFI 36-2654, Combat Arms Program. (paragraph 1)
The Chief Range Officer (CRO) is responsible for managing personnel, equipment, and ranges during each training event. (paragraph 1)
The Range Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for ensuring all training is conducted safely and in accordance with established guidelines. (paragraph 1)
The only USAF-approved training markers are SimunitionFX™ and Ultimate Training Munitions. (paragraph 3)
Items will be stored in a licensed explosive storage location and handled in accordance with (IAW) Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 91-201 Explosive Safety Standards. (paragraph 3)
