The publication addresses permits, approvals, personnel protection, radiological health protection, and control of ionizing radiation sources. It establishes requirements for acquiring, receiving, storing, distributing, using, transferring, and disposing of radioactive materials and radiation-producing devices.
Anyone subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) who violates these requirements and prohibitions is subject to punishment under UCMJ, Article 92, for failure to obey an order or regulation.
Violations by civilian employees may result in administrative disciplinary action in addition to any criminal or civil sanctions that might result.
Requests for waivers must be submitted to the OPR listed above, or as otherwise stipulated within this publication, for consideration and approval.
Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of in accordance with Air Force Records Information Management System (AFRIMS) Records Disposition Schedule (RDS).
