How much notice is required for Honor Guard requests?

All requests require a minimum 2-week notice with the exception of military funeral honors. Military funeral honors require a minimum 48-hour notice. (paragraph 4)

Which Honor Guard requests take priority?

Funeral taskings are the only mandated requests and take precedence over all other taskings.

How long do Honor Guard members serve?

Members assigned to the HFHG will serve 8 months. Active service begins the first day of their “assigned” month.

What happens if an Honor Guard member is absent during the active period?

Members absent for any reason, to include, but not limited to ALS, TDY and unit manpower issues during their 8 month active period will be replaced by the unit with a previously qualified Guardsman. (paragraph 2)

What qualifications must Honor Guard candidates meet for casket duties?

Candidates must be capable of supporting the shared weight of a 500-pound casket with five other members. (paragraph 2)
