The publication addresses FOD causes and effects, prevention training, inspections, tool control, vehicle operations, deployments, and FOD equipment. It requires awareness briefings, accountability of tools and personal items, reporting of lost items and damage, and inspections of aircraft, engines, vehicles, and equipment.
Applies to: It applies to all units assigned to the 49th Wing (WG) to include tenant units.
The 49 WG FOD prevention program applies to everyone working in, on, around, or traveling through areas near aircraft, missiles, drones, space systems, support equipment, engines and related components. (paragraph 2)
The overall 49 WG objective is to eliminate potential FOD hazards. (paragraph 4)
Squadrons will provide FOD awareness briefings on a monthly basis to all maintenance, operations, and base support personnel who work in, around, or drive through aircraft flight line and maintenance areas, to include hangars. (paragraph 9)
All aircraft maintenance actions cease upon discovery of any aircraft or engine damage; report all findings immediately to the maintenance officer/supervisor.
Complete AETC Form 138, Lost Tool or Item Investigation Record, for each lost item, and turn completed form in to CTK monitor and QA. (paragraph 21-380)
