HILLAFBI23-101 establishes unit, installation manager, and monitor duties for recovering and safeguarding precious metals scrap. It requires appointments, training, inspections, documentation, and recurring turn-ins to Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services.
Applies to: This instruction is applicable to all Hill AFB organizations including tenants where precious metals are used or recovered.
Units who generate precious metals scrap are required to recover it when feasible and route it through Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services.
Accumulated returns will be disposed of at a minimum of every 180 days regardless of the amount collected. (paragraph 23-101)
Ensure primary and alternate PMRP monitor are appointed in writing for each shop/activity within any unit that handles precious metals. (paragraph 23-101)
Will maintain a PMRP continuity book as prescribed in attachment 2, conduct selfinspections every 6 months using the checklist provided in attachment 3, and maintain completed checklists for 2 years. (paragraph 23-101)
Will turn in all recovered precious metal assets to DLA Disposition Services at least every 6 months and maintain documentation for 2 years. (paragraph 23-101)
