HAFMD1-33 governs the mission, organizational relationships, and responsibilities of the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for ISR.

It establishes AF/A2’s role in supporting the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Staff in carrying out the Department of the Air Force ISR mission. It assigns duties involving intelligence policy, oversight, security, information systems, GEOINT, HUMINT, and civil aviation intelligence.
Serving as the AF ISR focal point across the Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies. (paragraph 3)
Serving as the office of primary responsibility (OPR) for AF ISR to include planning, programming, policy, guidance, intelligence force development, and oversight for all AF components of the intelligence functional community (Active Component, Reserve Components, and Civilian). (paragraph 3)
Publishing AF Intelligence Oversight instructions, ensuring training of AF/A2 personnel in Intelligence Oversight standards, complying with those standards, and providing representation to the Air Force Intelligence Oversight Panel. (paragraph 3)
The SecAF may re-delegate authority/assign responsibilities to the AF/A2, but the SecAF, through the CSAF and, as appropriate, Assistant Secretaries of the AF, retains ultimate responsibility for all matters listed in Attachment 1 of this publication. (paragraph 2)
Ensuring all AF intelligence information systems comply with Office of National Intelligence directives and requirements Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 500, Director of National Intelligence, Chief Information Officer. (paragraph 3)
