The publication implements Department of Defense CUI guidance and establishes requirements supporting the DoD Information Security Program. It addresses CUI sharing with foreign entities, including lawful government purposes, NOFORN and NF markings, and applicable laws and policies.
CUI designated information may be shared with a foreign recipient, without further coordination, provided the recipient has a lawful government purpose to receive the information, the information is not marked as NOFORN or NF, and the information is being disseminated in accordance with applicable laws and policies. (paragraph 1)
Technical information is information with military or space application that is subject to controls on the access, use, reproduction, modification, performance, display, disclosure, or dissemination. (paragraph 1)
Information marked as “NATO” shall only be used for official NATO purposes and may carry administrative or dissemination limitation warnings. (paragraph 1-07)
