DAFPD10-2 governs Department of the Air Force readiness policy, reporting, assessment, and preparation of personnel and equipment.

It addresses the Defense Readiness Reporting System, readiness assessments, resource and capability readiness, and readiness reporting requirements. It also assigns readiness policy oversight and reporting responsibilities to AF/A3 and SF/COO.
Applies to: This publication applies to all civilian and Regular Air Force personnel and all civilian and Regular Space Force personnel, members of the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard.
To ensure accurate reporting, units are required to submit a new report within 24 hours for any circumstance that would change the status of a readiness rating. (paragraph 1)
The USAF and the USSF will continually assess readiness based on criteria established by the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of the Air Force, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and Chief of Space Operations, United States Space Force. (paragraph 2)
The USAF and the USSF will use DRRS information in assessing readiness, determining budgetary allocation and management action impacts on unit level readiness, answering congressional inquiries, analyzing readiness trends, and supporting readiness decisions. (paragraph 2)
The USAF and the USSF units will report resource and capability readiness. (paragraph 2)
Resource readiness is a commander’s objective assessment of the unit’s ability to execute the full spectrum mission for which the unit is organized. (paragraph 2)
