The manual covers service-date calculations, creditable service, dates of rank, enlistment and reenlistment, promotions, demotions, and commissioning packages. It requires designated personnel organizations to compute service dates and dates of rank and establishes applicable service-credit rules.
Applies to: This manual applies to the uniformed members of the Regular Air Force (RegAF), United States Space Force (USSF), Air National Guard (ANG), and Air Force Reserve (AFR).
Do not credit active duty while a student in the HPSP or the USU as active military or active commissioned service. (paragraph 5)
Credit service while in the HPSP or USU for TFCSD and TYSD. (paragraph 5)
Do not credit time spent in the Inactive Status List Reserve Section, or any other inactive Reserve service after 31 May 1958. (paragraph 7)
If you credit a certain period of service under one rule, do not credit it again under another rule. (paragraph 1-1)
For officers, do not credit service performed in advanced ROTC after 12 October 1964, for any purpose except military service obligation (10 USC § 2106, Advanced training; commission on completion, and 10 USC § 2107). (paragraph 9)
