It specifies how to maximize ISO container space and coordinate mixed-destination container shipments. It also establishes requirements for shipping documentation, container inspections, markings, RFID tags, and FMS shipments.

The side-opening MILVAN container is the preferred container for munitions intermodal movements. (paragraph 7)
Before loading munitions for shipment, prior-to-use inspections will be performed on the containers, to include visual interior and exterior examination for obvious defects. (paragraph 7)
Munitions activities that generate munitions shipments using ISO containers will attach shipping documents to the inside of a door on each container. (paragraph 7)
Attach the original-signed DA Form 2404 to the inside of a door on each container and maintain a copy of the DA Form 2404 in accordance with DTR 4500.9-R. (paragraph 7)
Units will ensure all applicable DOT markings are properly affixed. (paragraph 7)
