The publication requires operational support flyers to record primary or other time according to their duties. It also establishes requirements for AF Form 3520 records used to document flight activity and validate flight pay eligibility.
Applies to: This publication applies to civilian employees and uniformed members of the Regular Air Force, U.S. Space Force (USSF), Air Force Reserve (AFR) and the Air National Guard (ANG), as well as Air Force aircrew personnel assigned to active flying positions in the Civil Air Patrol.
Operational support flyers must log primary time to meet the requirement for hazardous duty incentive pay. (paragraph 4)
Operational Support medical technicians on aeronautical orders will only log primary time when performing inflight medical assistance to actual patients. (paragraph 4)
Only other time is authorized for periods of the mission when medical assistance is not being provided. (paragraph 4)
Non-interference flyers (other than flying unit commanders) must receive AF/ACTF approval to log flying time on AFTO Form 781 and enter data into ARMS. (paragraph 5)
Rated officers and career enlisted aviators will log second character crew position āZā when tasked to perform inflight non-crew duties (e.g., safety observer). (paragraph 6)
