DAFI90-301_AETCSUP addresses complaint processing, information protection, notifications, allegation review, and protected communications. It requires records generated by prescribed processes to follow records management and disposition requirements.
Applies to: It applies to all AETC units and AETC-gained units, including AETC Air Force Reserve (AFR) and Air National Guard (ANG) units.
Specifically, the IG has the responsibility to safeguard the personal identity of individuals seeking assistance or participating in an IG process, such as an investigation, including complainants, witnesses and subjects. (paragraph 3)
While this does not mean communications made to an IG are privileged or confidential, it does mean disclosure of those communications (and the identity of the communicant) should be strictly limited to an official, need-to-know basis. (paragraph 3)
Persons who request anonymity or who express a concern about confidentiality must be informed of this policy. (paragraph 3)
All personnel reviewing or processing IG information shall be briefed on this policy. (paragraph 3)
