DAFI62-601 covers airworthiness assurance, airworthiness authorities, organizational roles, and the airworthiness approval process. Compliance is mandatory, and the publication addresses records, waivers, and supplements.
Applies to: This publication applies to all civilian employees and uniformed members of the entire Department of the Air Force (DAF), and those with a contractual obligation to abide by the terms of DAF publications.
Ensure all records generated as a result of processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction 33-322, Records Management and Information Governance Program, and are disposed in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule, which is located in the Air Force Records Information Management System.
Supplements to this publication must be sent to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Science, Technology and Engineering) (SAF/AQR) for review and coordination before publishing.
The authorities to waive wing-, unit-, and delta-level requirements in this publication are identified with a tier (“T-0, T-1, T-2, T-3”) number following the compliance statement.
Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate tier waiver approval authority and to the Air Force Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA).
Non-tiered compliance items may be waived by SAF/AQ, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics), except items in Chapter 3, which may be waived by the Technical Airworthiness Authority.
