It establishes the AFJAG Corps composition, mission, functions, and provision of legal services. It also sets requirements for recruiting, supervision, training, development, legal offices, resourcing, and compliance.
Failure to obey Chapter 6, paragraphs 6.3.2, 6.3.3, or 6.3.4 of this instruction constitutes a violation of Article 92(1), Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ)—failure to obey lawful order or regulation.
Ensure all records generated as a result of processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-322, Records Management and Information Governance Program, and are disposed of in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule, which is located in the Air Force Records Information Management System.
Compliance with attachments 4 and 5 in this publication is mandatory.
Changes include (1) revising the trial and defense counsel certification process and (2) clarifying requirements associated with Special Trial Counsel and Senior Defense Counsel qualifications.
