It covers identification, treatment, and management of personnel with substance use disorders, along with policy on alcohol, illicit drugs, prescription drug misuse, and other addictive behaviors. It requires protected information collection and maintenance and establishes procedures for supplements, waivers, and records.
Applies to: This instruction applies to all active-duty United States Space Force, Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard personnel whenever eligible for Department of Defense (DoD) medical services.
When not eligible for DoD medical services, ARC members will obtain, when needed, non-military SUD services at their own expense.
Ensure all records generated as a result of processes prescribed in this publication adhere to Air Force Instruction 33-322, Records Management and Information Governance Program, and are disposed in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition Schedule, which is located in the Air Force Records Information Management System.
Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate tier waiver approval authority.
