It covers unit facilities and duty locations, lactation areas on DAF-controlled aircraft and real property, and refrigeration and storage of expressed milk. It requires commanders and directors to administer guidance and commanders to enforce DAF-approved lactation accommodations.

The guidance contained herein details procedures for commanders to support lactating personnel within (unit) facilities and duty locations under the control of a unit commander (or equivalent) with necessary accommodations to meet their individual goals, regardless of the time after the child’s birth.
For the purposes of providing lactation areas, the guidance contained herein applies to all DAF controlled aircraft and real property, as defined in DAFPD 32-90, Real Property Management, and is administered by commanders or directors at the unit level or higher.
Enforce DAF-approved lactation accommodations as outlined in this instruction.
Provide accommodation for lactating contractor personnel as outlined in paragraph 3.1. Refer to contract for break time and TDY entitlements.
