Casualty reports are required for personnel medically evacuated out of designated combat zone, hostile fire or imminent danger pay areas for further treatment or evaluation, or as a result of a hostile fire event regardless of location if the member is a loss to the unit. (paragraph 6)
Casualty reports are required when Emergency Family Member Travel (EFMT) authority is requested and approved. (paragraph 7)
Whenever a casualty occurs as the result of either hostile action or terrorist activity, initial notification(s) shall also be made to the NOK listed on the DD Form 93/RED for military members or emergency contact for DoD, DAF or NAF civilians.
Casualty assistance is not provided to NOK of deserters. (paragraph 1-3)
