The publication establishes standards for motor vehicle control, driver certification, inspections, contractor activities, and emergency response. It also sets requirements for passengers, cargo, airfield access, refresher training, and vehicle operation in the Controlled Movement Area.
Applies to: This instruction applies to all civilian employees and uniformed members of the Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard organizations that administer an airfield driving program.
Only trained personnel will be assigned duties which involve driving on the airfield.
Accomplish a re-inspection of a unit’s Airfield Driving Program (ADP) no later than 30 days following receipt of an unsatisfactory rating.
Conduct airfield driving training and safety briefings for all contractor personnel prior to airfield construction activities commencing, and coordinate with the Airfield Manager (AFM) to establish contractor haul routes to/from work sites.
All personnel returning from a TDY or deployment for 180 days or longer, will receive refresher training prior to operating on the airfield.
All passengers will wear seat belts at all times while the vehicle is in motion.
