The publication addresses household goods shipment and storage, transportation and nontemporary storage, temporary duty orders, PCS orders, and authorized weight allowances. It requires compliance and establishes rules for excess charges, storage-in-transit, reimbursement, and final settlement documentation.
Applies to: This publication applies to all civilian employees and uniformed members of the Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, and United States Space Force.
If authorized JTR weight allowance is exceeded, the member is liable for the excess costs associated with the shipment and/or storage of the excess weight. (paragraph 4)
Storage-In-Transit (SIT) is authorized up to 90 days. (paragraph 6)
If an additional 90 days is required, it is to be authorized by the PPSO/PPPO. (paragraph 6)
An advance payment of a monetary allowance equal to the carrier’s written estimate is authorized per JTR, par. 051502-B. (paragraph 4)
Member is authorized reimbursement of all charges associated with move including SIT up to maximum JTR weight allowance. (paragraph 7)
