DAFI10-2602 addresses WMD threats, CBRN weapons, force preparation, mission-critical systems, and countering WMD objectives. It requires compliance with the publication and its attachments and establishes waiver and records requirements.
Applies to: This publication applies to the Regular United States Air Force (USAF), United States Space Force (USSF), Air Force Reserve, and the Air National Guard.
The Department of Defense defines WMD as chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear (CBRN) weapons capable of a high order of destruction or causing mass casualties, excluding the means of transporting or propelling the weapon where such means is a separable and divisible part from the weapon.
Countering WMD describes the effort against actors of concern to curtail the conceptualization, development, possession, proliferation, use, and effects of weapons of mass destruction, related expertise, materials, technologies, and means of delivery.
In accordance with AFPD 10-26, the DAF will organize, train, and equip its forces to support DoD and US Government efforts to: deter or deny adversary acquisition and use of WMD; find and control, disrupt, or destroy adversary WMD capabilities; and, when necessary, minimize the effects of adversary WMD attacks on USAF and USSF operations.
Compliance with Attachments 1, 2, and 3 of this publication is mandatory.
Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate Tier waiver approval authority, or alternately, to the publication OPR for non-tiered compliance items.
