Knowledge is mandatory of oral anatomy and physiology; inorganic chemistry; metallurgy fundamentals; dental laboratory technology; dental materials physical and chemical properties; instruments; infection control protocols; dental administration; budgeting; dental laboratory equipment and maintenance requirements. (paragraph 7)
Completion of the 4Y052 Dental Laboratory Journeyman correspondence course and all 5-skill level core and duty position tasks listed in the 4Y0X2 STS. (paragraph 7)
Qualification in and possession of AFSC 4Y032. Also, experience fabricating prosthodontic restorations, including fixed, removable, and orthodontic appliances. (paragraph 7)
The symbol “X” in column 2B identifies critical tasks; these are the only tasks that require third party certification. (paragraph 2)
Trainers must be recommended by their supervisor, qualified to perform the task being trained, and have completed the AF Training Course (AFTC). (paragraph 2)
