For award of 43H3, completion of upgrade training IAW the current CFETP, the PHO Course and the in-person Contingency Preventive Medicine (CPM) course is required. (paragraph 1)
For (43HX and 43HXE): Knowledge of basic epidemiology, microbiology, food technology and hygiene, communicable diseases, occupational and environmental health, and medical entomology is mandatory for all operational environments. (paragraph 2)
For entry into this specialty, the following are mandatory: Possess either: Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD), or Master Degree in Public Health (MPH/MSPH) plus a baccalaureate degree in either biology, entomology, microbiology, zoology, or nursing. (paragraph 2)
Applicants must have/maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale for all applicable degrees. (paragraph 2)
In accordance with DAFI 36-2670, all newly commissioned medical officers are classified (i.e. awarded the 43HXX AFSC) by Title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 8067(a) through (f), upon commissioning. (paragraph 2)
