In order to guarantee the proficiency of civilian contracting personnel charged with ensuring the integrity of the acquisition process, 1102 personnel develop specific technical skills through a combination of training, certification, and years of on-the-job experience.
1102s gain experience through a myriad of developmental opportunities, including operational/installation, systems, logistics/sustainment, research and development, test and evaluation, enterprise sourcing, contingency operations, staff/policy/pricing/contract data specialist positions, career broadening, and civilian development.
1102s work closely with the mission partners they support to determine how to best satisfy each unit’s requirements, while complying with the governing laws, regulations, and policy.
1102s must continue to stay abreast of regulatory changes, policy updates, and command directives, and one way to do that is through meeting mandatory continuous learning requirements.
Uniting the contracting career field’s deliberate development of its 1102s with each 1102 successfully demonstrating the competencies and tasks outlined in this plan will ensure Department of the Air Force (DAF) Contracting continues its proud tradition of growing a technically proficient contracting workforce.
