It defines the wing’s support functions for Air University, Air Education and Training Command, tenant units, and Maxwell-Gunter organizations. It establishes command authorities, organizational units, installation and force support duties, contingency support, and disaster relief support.
Applies to: This Mission Directive (MD) prescribes the mission, relationships, structure, and responsibilities of the 42d Air Base Wing (42 ABW) in support of the Air University (AU) and Air Education and Training Command (AETC) operational and strategic goals.
The mission of the 42 ABW is to provide force (personnel) and installation (infrastructure) support functions required in order for AU to execute its assigned missions. (paragraph 1)
Reports directly to the Commander of Air University. (paragraph 2)
42d Mission Support Group and its subordinate units execute the force support and installation support portions of the wing’s mission. (paragraph 3)
Ensure a safe and secure installation through force protection efforts. (paragraph 4)
Provide force support (personnel) activities for Regular Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve personnel, military dependents and retirees and DoD civilians that are assigned, associated, attached, detailed, living or traveling through the area. (paragraph 4)
